We need to think differently when it comes to older adults and addiction, and this guide explains why.
- presents the challenges in identifying late life addiction
- examines the best treatment options for this population
- explores the unique problems of older adults with addiction
Written by two leading experts on this subject, Older Adults and Addiction includes the latest research findings on older adults and substance abuse and offers helpful screening tools and intervention techniques.
As baby boomers reach retirement age, substance abuse among these older adults is on the rise. Besides alcohol abuse, many baby boomers suffer from illicit drug use. The good news is that it’s never too late to change. The two presenters in this DVD provide easy-to-follow methods of effectively screening, assessing, and conducting brief interventions. You’ll also learn more about how to utilize motivational interviewing techniques and make referral and treatment recommendations for older adults. This DVD provides a lively, fun, and fast-paced presentation on a topic of growing concern.
